From the Abstract: "The Klallam people of the Elwha Valley, Pysht, and Clallam Bay on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington traditionally fished the Elwha River as anadromous fish traveled through the Strait of Juan de Fuca. For centuries the Elwha River and its fish were integral to the livelihoods and culture of the Lower Elwha Klallam people. Since the damming of the Elwha River in 1910, the Lower Elwha Klallam have struggled with dwindling fish populations and a changing riverine environment. This paper is inteded to disentangle some of the historical complexity that has created the environmental inequity for the Lower Elwha Klallam people."
