A study testing the effects of soil quality and depth on seedling emergence and survival using native topsoil and subsoil from a borrow pit. The subsoil had increasing densities from the deep soil depths to the shallow soil depths while the topsoil had increasing densities from the shallow soil depths to the deep soil depths.
