In 1991, 400 containerized fourwing saltbush (Atriplex canescens) shrubs were transplanted in the Owens Valley, California under selected density, irrigation, fertilizer, and weed control treatments. It was determined that irrigation was the most significant factor affecting survival. Weed control increased survival, while fertilizer increased growth when used in conjunction with irrigation.
