Plutonium decontamination of 700 hectares on the U.S. Department of Energy Nevada Test Site, Nellis Air Force Range, and the Tonopah Test Range involves the removal of 370,000 cubic meters of soil, plants, and associated microbes. This study will aid in restoration of soil microbial populations upon subsequent revegetation of these sites.
