This report contains two sub-reports, both dealing with four National Park Service Units: City of Rocks National Reserve (CIRO), Hagerman Fossil Beds National Monument (HAFO), Nez Perce National Historic Park (NEPE), and Whitman Mission National Historical Site (WHMI). For the first report, "Our goal was to accurately locate and map all noxious weeds, and when possible, exotic weeds of concern, within and adjacent to the four parks. Management recommendations are put forth for the suppression and control of these species. with special consideration given to weed locale, prevalence, and range expansion potential. " For the second report, "Our goal was to develop and initiate replicated small mammal and bird survey transects located in areas of exotic weed infestations and on ecologically similar lands covered by native vegetation. However, with the exception of Hagerman Fossil Beds, Whitman Mission, and Whitebird Battlefield (which did provide large enough patches of Canada thistle, poison hemlock, and yellow starthistle, respectively), few noxious weed patches were large enough to adequately address this question. Thus, a second goal of this project was to initiate monitoring surveys to discern methods (i.e., trap size, transect location) that will accurately document species occurrence, diversity, and relative abundance." Includes small colored maps showing noxious weed sites and transect sites plus lists of small mammals and birds.
