Land cover classifications for Big Hole National Battlefield, Whitman Mission National Historic Site, and Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area using ASTER imagery

Wilson GM. 2006. Land cover classifications for Big Hole National Battlefield, Whitman Mission National Historic Site, and Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area using ASTER imagery. National Park Service. Moscow, ID

Due to a desire to update land cover information for three Upper Columbia Basin Network parks (Big Hole National Battlefield (BIHO), Whitman Mission National Historic Site (WHMI), and Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area (LARO)), the three parks and the University of Idaho Landscape Dynamics Lab collected field data and conducted image classification using the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) and eCognition software. A total of 13 unique classes were mapped at BIHO, 14 classes at WHMI, and 12 classes at LARO with overall accuracies of 93.8%, 97%, and 89.5%, respectively.
