This study was conducted in the Shoshone, Toiyabe, Toquima and Monitor mountain ranges of the Toiyabe National Forest in central Nevada. Field work was conducted from June 1 to September 15 each year from 1990 through 1993. The study area lies in the center of the Great Basin physiographic province. An analytical method for classifying ecological types was developed and tested for mountain meadows in central Nevada
