A review of Brigham (1909). Hitchcock criticizes Brigham for not including a tabulated chronology of Kilauea and Mauna Loa eruptive activity and for misrepresenting the elevation of the surface of Halemaumau lava lake in 1894, relative to the elevation of the Volcano House hotel. He praises Brigham for his illustrations and for his support for the establishment of an observatory for continuous study of the volcanoes.
