Soil gas samples were collected over and near the Puhimau Thermal Area at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Helium concentrations were highest over fractures. Mercury was especially concentrated over the thermal area. Carbon dioxide and sulfur were lowest in the center of the hot area and highest around its edges.
