Notice of the establishment on July 1, 1926, of a section of volcanology within the U.S. Geological Survey. T.A. Jaggar was appointed as head of the section. His congressionally-mandated duties were to operate the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory, conduct volcanologic surveys, make measurements, and print reports summarizing the work.
