The impact of Acanthaster planci coral kills on the Samoan reef fish community

Buckley T. 1986. The impact of Acanthaster planci coral kills on the Samoan reef fish community. Dept. of Marine & Wildlife Resources biological report series no. 8. Department of Marine and Wildlife Resources. Pago Pago, American Samoa

Compared fish transects from before and after the crown-of-thorns starfish (COTS) distubance in 1978 to determine changes in reef fish communities; very few changes in diversity and numbers of fish; however nearly all the live coral covering the Tutuila reefs were destroyed by Acanthaster planci.
