This study was performed because of the concern that the bait shrimp fishery in Biscayne Bay was reducing the gamefish population due to the removal of food from the bay. The number of bait shrimp killed by the fishery was compared to the number of bait shrimp that died from natural causes, such as predation, starvation, disease, etc., to see what effect the fishery was having on the population. The study concluded that the commercial fishery did not significantly reduce the amount of food available to fish populations. Graphs and tables present the data.
