Over a three year period, USGS scientists surveyed 187 wetlands, comparing breeding activity of amphibians in artificial impoundments vs. natural wetlands. This article looks at the breeding patterns of two species, wood frog and spotted salamander. Both species were less likely to use impoundments than natural wetlands.
