From Introduction, 'The need for an accurate estimation of ultraviolet-B radiation (UV-B; wavelengths from 280 nm to 320nm) exposure has grown tremendously over the last several decades, due primarily to the photochemicalreduction of stratospheric ozone by anthropogenic chlorofluorocarbons.' Ultraviolet-B radiation doses were estimated for 1024 wetlands in six national parks (Acadia, Glacier, Great Smoky Mountains, Olympic, Rocky Mountain, and Sequioa-Kings Canyon). Estimates were made using ground-based UV-B data (Brewer spectrophometers), solar radiation models, GIS tools, field characterization of vegetation, and quatification of dissolved organic carbin (DOC) concentration and spectral absorbance.
