An interagency effort to monitor grizzly bear population trends in the Northern Continental Divide Ecosystem (NCDE) was initiated in 2004. The long-term goal of the study is to estimate population trend through monitoring survival and reproductive rates of radio-instrumented female grizzly bears. During 2006, 34 research females and 12 management female grizzly bears were monitored. Monitoring occurred in Montana, southeastern British Columbia, and southwestern Alberta.
