The Jackson Lake Draw-down project is a multi-year venture intended to gather research on the effects of drawing down, seasonally or permanently, the waters of Jackson Lake, Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming. Jackson Lake is a large reservoir within the Park that can store up to 624,000 acre-feet of water and is formed by the Snake River. Much of the water retained in Jackson Lake is used for agricultural and consumptive purposes downstream in both Wyoming and Idaho. Although the reservoir is currently located within the boundaries of Grand Teton National Park, Jackson Lake Dam is managed by the Bureau of Reclamation. However, any decisions involving water storage and releases of water below Jackson Lake Dam are of great importance to the National Park Service since these activities may directly or indirectly affect the natural and cultural resources of the Grand Teton National Park.
