Macgregor J. 2007. Results of an amphibian, reptile, and turtle survey of Abraham Lincoln Birthplace and Boyhood Home National Park, Kentucky

ABLI was visited by one or more investigators a total of 17 times from 2003-2005. Eleven frog species, 6 salamanders, 3 lizards, 8 snakes, and 2 turtles were recorded from ABLI during the survey (Table 1); these totaled 28 of the 46 expected species (60.9%). A total of 309 species observations were made during the study period; these are broken down by species group and by year in Table 2. Reptiles and turtles were recorded individually; 170 snakes were encountered on the park along with 41 lizards and 7 turtles. Amphibians were not counted as individuals since the observations included breeding choruses, larvae, and/or egg masses. All observations of amphibians, reptiles, and turtles made within ABLI and ABLI have been tabulated in the accompanying Access file (NPS Database 1-29-07). No previous herpetological data was available for ABLI to provide historical perspective concerning the fauna of the park.
