Results of study to investigate elk browsing effects on non-woody vegetation and how that in turn affects butterfly abundance and species richness. Ungulate exclosures and reference sites were used in ponderosa pine grassland and aspen-mixed conifer forest. Results show that in high densities elk browse non-woody vegetation and young aspen, which has an affect on butterfly community composition.
