The study organism, Eusattus muricatus, is one of the most common dune-obligate tenebrionid beetles in western North America. Starch-gel electrophoresis was used to elucidate the population structure of E. muricatus on sand dunes in the context of the pluvial history of the Great Basin and Mojave Deserts.
