This paper discusses the problems associated with domestic sheep bot fly infection on wild Desert Bighorn herds. Horned sheep are particularly susceptible to infection from the fly due to their large nasal areas (the point of infection for the fly). Animals which are bitten are susceptible to numerous secondary infections including chronic sinusitis, bacterial infections, and mucosal inflammations.
