The nursery at Joshua Tree National Monument (JOTR), which mitigates impacts to the park's vegetation systems, created methods for using native desert vegetation on disturbed areas in the desert southwest. A 30 inch tall PVC pipe, also known as the "tall pot," allows deep tap root development and is one of the most notable techniques used by JOTR. JOTR also uses a technique known as imprinting that improves the success of direct seeding.
