The blackbrush (Coleogyne ramosissima) community is one of the dominant vegetation types in southern Nevada. Species richness, density, abundance, and distribution of blackbrush communities was surveyed and compared among 15 elevational transects in the Spring and Sheep Mountain Ranges adjacent to Las Vegas, Nevada. Three vegetational communities were found and classified into five vegetational zones, including blackbrush, creosote bush-bursage (Larrea tridentata-Ambrosia dumosa), and pinyon juniper-sagebrush (Juniperus osteosperma-Artemisia tridentata), and they shared relatively broad upper and lower ecotones.
