The Arizona Strip District of the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), Northern Arizona University (NAU), and the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AGFD) continue to implement and study ponderosa pine forest ecosystem restoration and the concurrent responses of vegetation and wildlife at the Mount Trumbull Resource Conservation Area (RCA). Forest restoration incorporates intensive mechanical thinking, site preparation, prescribed fires, and native reseeding to re-create forest conditions emulating those present prior to Euro-American settlement.
