This study was to determine the influence of habitat characteristics on trapping, and the long-term effects of trapping. The GIS system habitat use system for black bears was used to find relative probabilities of occurrence of bears around trapsites. Logistic and multiple regression were used to test for relationships between capture parameters. Local-level models showed no relationship, but landscape-level models did. Analysis of variance suggested trap response bias. Future research should investigate other factors.
