This report discusses the air quality statistics for August of 2000 in the South Coast Air Basin and the Salton Sea Air Basin. Included are tables of concentration and air quality index (AQI) values recorded for the following pollutants: ozone, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, PM10, PM2.5, lead, and sulfate. The AQI was established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and replaces the old Pollutant Standards Index (PSI).
