Acoustic surveys for bats at Canyonland National Park were performed as part of a larger bat inventory conducted by the USGS in 2004-2005. The objectives for this portion of the study were to document the presence of bat species in areas that were difficult to inventory with mist nets, and to document bat species which were expected to occur within CANY, but had not been captured with mist netting efforts. Fieldwork was conducted during June of 2005. Efforts resulted in recording 3,622 call sequence files of which 93.2% contained identifiable call sequences. Eleven species were detected, including one species that was not captured via mist netting (Myotis ciliolabrum, Western small-footed myotis).
