The authors used two methods to estimate flow across segments of the lateral boundary of the Death Valley regional ground-water flow system model: (1) calculations using Darcy's law based on regional potential gradient, cross sectional areas of each subsegment at the boundary, and hydraulic conductivities of hydrogeologic units at each subsegment cross section; and (2) calculation from water budgets of contributing areas.
