Molluscan fauna of Saipan Island

Summary: Marine fauna and mollusks observed during my short stay at Saipan Island, the Mariana Islands, were outlined. A total of 120 molluscan species were collected from the diverse topographies of this island, as shown in Table 1, in which 94 marine gastropods, 6 terrestrial gastropods, and 20 marine bivalves were included. Because the marine mollusks exhibit a remarkable uniformity throughout the tropical western pacific regions, most species of Saipan island are in common with molluscan fauna occupying the Ryukyu Islands and the Caroline Islands.
