Fishing activities on Guam are divided into two basic categories: offshore and inshore fishing. Offshore fishing typically involves small boats (12 to 48 feet) going on 1- to 2-day trolling and bottomfishing trips. They usually originate from one of the three principal harbors located on the west coast and southern tip of the island. Inshore fishing is usually conducted without the use of a boat and consists mostly of nearshore casting, netting, and spearfishing.
