Description of traverses and sample stations, Saipan, Mariana Islands

Cloud PE. 1959. Description of traverses and sample stations, Saipan, Mariana Islands. United States Geological Survey

The locations of all traverses, traverse stations, and other collecting localities are shown on a map in USGS Prof. Paper 280K. Lists of organisms identified by traverse station and locality are given in a distribution list comprising an appendix to PP 280K and PP 280H on the smaller Foraminifera. Only the specific identifications actually checked on the distribution tables are based on collected specimens; others mentioned in the following descriptions are based on field records only. Sizing and sorting coefficients for the sediments described are tabulated in the general discussion in PP 280K.The detrital grains are preponderantly coral or algal, where not otherwise specified. Also unless otherwise specified, all dates refer to the year 1949.
