Salmon, forests, and pre-restoration assessment using stable isotope analysis on riparian vegetation (Washington)
Minion JM, Barry D, Urbanec L, Gray A. 2007. Salmon, forests, and pre-restoration assessment using stable isotope analysis on riparian vegetation (Washington). Ecological Restoration. 25(3):220-221
From the article: "Our objectives were to evaluate how the presence or absence of salmon affects levels of MDN [marine-derived nutrients] in riparian vegetation and to gather baseline data on MDN in riparian vegetation, pre-dam removal. Two large dams on the Elwha River of NW Washington State, USA, are scheduled for removal by 2012. Historically, the Elwha supported 10 anadromous fish runs. ... Data collected prior to dam removal will allow us to track changes in the ecosystem during and following restoration."
