A checklist of 398 insects and myriapod species from Kipahulu Valley, Maui, below 2000 feet (216 endemic to the Hawaiian Islands). Includes map of area surveyed. Table 2 is a summary of the number of exotic, native, and endemic species found in the Valley (by order). Recommends fencing to exclude feral pigs and cattle; control of the long-legged ant (Anoplolepis longipes); monitoring of the yellowjacket (Vespula pensylvanica); and the reestablishment of taro along Puaaluu Stream, in order to preserve the threatened damselfly (Megalagrion pacificum).
