This study focuses on the lives of a group of Inupiaq reindeer herders living on the northern Seward Peninsula. This ethnohistorical study focuses on the lives of a group of Inupiaq reindeer herders living at the winter reindeer herding and seal hunting settlement of Ublasaun on the northern Seward Peninsula between 1918 and 1925. The author focuses on Thomas Makaiqtaq Barr and his family and associates, who herded reindeer and hunted seals at Ublasaun, near the present community of Shishmaref.
