The 1986 GMP identifies asecondary purpose or interpretive theme of "Conflicts of Cultures." A portion of themonument is to be administered and maintained as the Custer Battlefield NationalCemetery. A related purpose of the monument is to preserve the natural resources aspart of the effort to retain the integrity of the cultural resources of the area.
