The purpose of the Water Resource Management Plan is to provide a critical and detailed examination of water resources and water related issues in the Santa Monica Mountains. This plan "defines a course of action based upon law and National Park Service policy for the protection, conservation, use and management of park water resources. It also is a repository for information about water resources" ( NPS , U.S . Dept . of the Interior , 1979 ).
