In certain areas, especially Yosemite Valley, the sequoia groves, the mixed conifer forest, and some high elevation meadows, the ecological balance has been altered. In spite of the above, evidence indicates that the wildland portions of all ecosystems can be largely restored or maintained with implementation of sound management.
