Following the La Mesa Fire of 1977, a three year survey was begun to study the effects of the fire on small mammal populations. This report summarizes activities after the second summer. Trapping and mark and recapture techniques were used to determine small population size and density in burned areas of pinyon-juniper, ponderosa pine, and riparian habitats. The results are graphically represented according to canopy and ground cover.
