The palynological analysis was conducted on a core taken at the mouth of Kingsmill Creek, Jamestown Island, Colonial National Historical Park (Figure 1). The core was acquired by vibracore during the summer of 1985, as part of a research project into in the geologic development of Jamestown Island during the last 10,000 years (Holocene Epoch). The 22-feet long core was split, photographed, describe and sampled for palynologic analysis. The samples were sent to Dr. David S. Shafer, who conducted the analysis and prepared the accompanying report with text, tables, and pollen spectrum.
