This report details sequential efforts made between 1971 and 1999 to develop an adequate, potable water supply at Hole-in-the-Wall, a site located in the western central portion of Mojave National Preserve. The authors' objective in writing the report was to assist future efforts to identify an adequate water supply for the Hole-in-the-Wall area. The report includes well completion reports for Bureau of Land Management Test wells 1 and 2 and an appendix of geologic and hydrologic references for the Preserve. The authors strongly recommend mapping the geology of the Preserve having found the current map (Freiwald, 1984) helpful but lacking the level of detail necessary to select test well drilling sites.
