The Northern Rocky Mountain Wolf Recovery Plan proposes and outlines the steps necessary for the re-establishment and maintenance of viable wolf populations in portions of its former range where feasible. The plan is general in scope and does not discuss specific re-establishment areas. The team has addressed itself only to the situation in the contiguous United States, recognizing that there are no wolves across the border n Canada adjacent to some of the areas discussed. The plan is intended to provide direction and coordination for efforts toward recovery of at least two viable NRMW populations in the lower 48 states.
