Inventory of Amphibians and Reptiles for Twelve National Parks in the Southern Colorado Plateau Network
Persons TB and Nowak EM. 2008. Inventory of Amphibians and Reptiles for Twelve National Parks in the Southern Colorado Plateau Network. National Park Serviece, United States Geological Survey, Northern Arizona University
In a fiscal year 2000, the National Park Service (NPS) began a nationwide program to inventory vertebrates and vascular plants within the National Parks, and developed an inventory plan for the 19 park units in teh Southern Colorado Plateau Inventory & Monitoring Network. We surveyed 12 parks in this network for reptiles and amphibians between 2001 and 2003. The overall goals of our herpetofaunal inventories were to (1) document (90%) of the species present, (2) identify park-specific species of special concern, and, (3) make recommendations for the development of an effective monitoring program based on the inventory results.
