Precipitation history of the Colorado Plateau Region, 1900-2000
Hereford R, Webb RH, Graham S. 2002. Precipitation history of the Colorado Plateau Region, 1900-2000. USGS Fact Sheet 119-02. U.S. Geological Survey. Flagstaff, AZ
The Colorado Plateau covers 210,000 km2 of Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona. Recent studies by the U.S. Geological Survey and other scientists suggest that the region may become drier for the next 2 to 3 decades in a pattern similar to the drought of 1942-1977. This fact sheet contains information on long-term variability of annual precipitation, short-term and long-term variation in climate and the El Nino and La Nina weather phenomena.
