The variation in oD [hydrogen isotope] of tree rings and the implications for climatic reconstruction

Tang K, Feng X, Ettl GJ. 2000. The variation in oD [hydrogen isotope] of tree rings and the implications for climatic reconstruction. Geochimica & Cosmochimica Acta. 64(10):1663-1673

From the Introduction: "The main objective of this work is to assess both systematic (e.g. caused by temperature, humidity, precipitation, etc.) and random isotopic variations in annual tree rings using a well-characterized area in the Olympic Mountains that has wide climatic and topographic gradients. We discuss how these variations should be considered in climatic reconstructions using paleowood."
