Increased use of scenic view areas and campground sites at Bryce Canyon National Park during the last several years has caused soil compaction and vegetational damage resulting in soil erosion and decreased aesthetic quality. The problem will continue to increase if a properly planned rehabilitation program is not undertaken in the near future. Information is needed on ways to rehabilitate and ecologically manage heavy use areas and still have continued use of the areas. Methods for propagation of local plant species and establishment procedures appropriate to park conditions must be developed as a foundation for site rehabilitation recommendations.
