Cheatgrass, Bromus tectorum, was first noted along horse trail in late June, 2000, by Bryce Canyon Interpreter, Brien Park. The vegetation crew immediately began survey and control efforts with assistance from the fence crew and rangers. Due to the late season start, the seeds were nature, so the plants were pulled and bagged to reduce future seed source. Not all the cheatgrass could be treated before seeds were dropped. Control of Bromus tectorum (abbreviated as BRTE on site names) along the horse trail was continued in late May, June and early July 2001. Three new sites were documented in 2001 along the horse connecting trail.
