Free-ranging desert tortoises were observed at 2 sites (St. George, Utah (SGU) and Beaver Dam Slope (BDS)) during spring 1989 and 1990. Tortoises were seen feeding on 43 species of plants at SGU and 14 species at BDS. Drought conditions prevailed during both years.
