Three permanent monitoring plots were designated. Trees were thinned and the sites burned in 1996 and 1997. A portion was reseeded with native shrubs, grasses and forbs. The greatest increase in species richness in all plots occurred 1.8 years after treatment. The seeded area had the highest biodiversity but also had twice as many nonnatives as the unseeded areas.
