Dissolved oxygen, temperature, specific conductivity and vertical hydraulic gradient (VHG) was measured above and belowground on one orthofluvial and one parafluvial springbrook in the Nyack Floodplain in Northwestern Montana. The data was used to analyze groundwater and surfacewater interactions on springbrooks in the floodplain. The study showed the importance of the substrate size and composition below the springbrook in moderating GW/SW interactions. It also demonstrated that specific conductivity can be used to determine the degree of mixing between GW and SW as well as intimate at the age and origin of GW.
