Walters FL. 2008. Olympic National Park Elwha Ranger Station Historic Structures Report. Olympic National Park. Port Angeles, WA

From the Executive Summary: "This Historic Structure Report was prepared as part of the implementation of the Olympic National Park General Management Plan (approved August 8, 2008) and in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. The historic Elwha Ranger Station is a captivating example of an early Forest Service developed complex. Constructed prior to adoption of standard policies for site deisgn, the complex bears remarkable planning attibutes that were adopted as standard elements in many later Forest Service stations. ... There is a completeness to the Elwha Ranger Station found in only a few surviving historic Forest Service facilities. Administrative and functional needs are recognized to change with time, but every effort should be made to incorporate a preservation ethic in all future planning at Elwha."
