This environmental assessment evaluates two alternatives. Under the no action alternative the park would not implement any suppression actions to control lake trout in Quartz Lake and risk extirpation of bull and westslope cutthroat trout from the lake system. The preferred alternative intends to reduce or eliminate competitive/predation interactions between lake trout and bull throut. The demographics of the lake trout population and the location of their spawning areas would be determined by acoustic telemetry and netting. The information obtained from netting would then be used to target and remove individual lake trout from the Quartz Lake system.
